William Lewis Sr

William F. "Scissor Bill" "Poppy" Lewis, 74, of Kingsville, MO passed away Monday, November 17, 2014. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21 at the chapel. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery, Independence, MO.
William was born March 5, 1940 in Independence, MO as one of seven children to Emmert “Fish” and Alice (Ashcraft) Lewis. He attended William Chrisman High School and left to join the Ironworkers Union Local 10. For forty years he proudly dedicated the hard work of his hands and iron working skills to the development of Kansas City’s buildings and infrastructure. On August 9, 1958 he married his beloved Marjorie (Murdock) and together they raised two children. He was a devoted father and participated in his family’s activities including four generations of Boy Scouts stretching from his son’s troop to his great grandson. William is a gardener, an outdoorsman, an avid collector of many fine antiques, especially lamps, a farmer, and a family man. His survivors remember him as loving and supportive. William is loved and will be missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Marjorie of the home; son, William F. Lewis, Jr. and wife Barbara of Independence; daughter, Paula Andreas and husband Michael of Kingsville, MO; grandchildren, Matthew and wife Amy, Brandy, and Malachi Lewis, Laura Behler and husband “KJ”, and Lynn Andreas; great grandchildren, Chayten, Zoe, Sophia, Nathaniel, and Bentley Lewis; sister, Dorothy Wilkinson of Independence, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters. The family encourages contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
