James “Jim” Carl Lichtenfeld, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Tuesday, December 10, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Graveside will be at 10am on Wednesday, December 11 at Mound Grove Cemetery, 1818 N River Blvd, Independence, MO 64050. Jim was born on January 21, 1934 to Vernon and Pauline (Hardin) Lichtenfeld in Centralia, MO. He attended Central High School in Independence before being drafted into the Army in 1956. After returning, he met and married Sue Jon Foster in 1958 and the pair had one daughter, Jodi. Jim loved his work as a supervisor at Sears, where he was employed for over 30 years, before retiring in 1976. Jim loved working in the yard, taking pictures, his many cameras, video games, any sport, going to the lake, and Cadillacs. In their younger years, Jim and Sue enjoyed traveling together. Left to treasure Jim’s memory are his daughter, Jodi (Jerry) Edmonds; granddaughters, Kelli Campbell and Nikki (Josh) Barlow; greatgrandchildren, Connor, Corbin, Jamie, and DJ; and sisters, Judy (Frank) Bronson and Donna Porter. He is preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Sue Jon; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Foster.
