Gerald “Jerry” T. Likely, Blue Springs, MO passed away June 9, 2014 on his 74th birthday. Services will be at 2 pm, Friday, June 13 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; private interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. In lieu of flower the family requests contributions to Great Plains SPCA Animal Shelter, 21001 MO. Hwy 78, Independence, MO 64057. Jerry was born in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Paseo High School. He was the owner of L & C Wholesale Meat, Inc., where he worked for sixty-four years until his death. He was President of the K.C. Meat Dealers Association for many years. He also served as chairman of SantaCaliGon Days for two years, was President of his neighborhood Home Owners Association for three years and served as President and a member of the Independence Bass Masters Association. He loved trap shooting, hunting, fishing and golf. Jerry was married to his high school sweetheart, Ruth (Fletcher) Likely for fifty-three years. Together they enjoyed touring Europe and camping in Missouri State Parks. He also took two trips to Costa Rica for deep-sea fishing. Jerry is survived by his wife, Ruth Likely, of the home; daughters Tommi Cook and husband Earl, Concordia, MO; Terri Ferree and husband Clark, Lee’s Summit, MO; sisters Bonnie Orell; Marcie Corum and husband Tom, all of Independence, MO; grandchildren Tina & Gloria Guier, Concordia, MO; Bailey & Riley Ferree, Lee’s Summit, MO.
