Benjamin Link, 22, of Overland Park, KS, passed away November 4, 2012. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan, Olathe, KS 66062. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Operation Breakthrough or Great Plains SPCA Animal Shelter. Benjamin was born April 18, 1990 in Columbia, MO to Timothy and Margaret (Burns) Link. He was a 2008 graduate from Olathe North High School. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Ben was intelligent and bright, with a witty sense of humor. He especially enjoyed children and pets, and spent much of his time volunteering to help at Operation Breakthrough and the animal shelter. Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vance and Catherine Link; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Nellie Burns; and uncle, Stevie Link. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Tim and Linda Link; mother, Maggie Link; sister, Sarah Ferguson and husband Matt; stepbrother, Todd Smutz and wife Cynthia; maternal aunts, Judy Frederick and Butch, Mary Williams and Kenny; paternal aunt, Karen Sparkes; paternal uncles, Richard Link and Deb, Ron Link and Sharon; nieces and nephews, Richard, Lillian and Clara Smutz.
