Catherine Diane "Cathy" Lipps (Bruns)

Catherine Diane Lipps, 48, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 after a long courageous battle with leukemia. Cathy was born July 29, 1965 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Ronald Dean and Sharon Shelly (Stevenson) Bruns. She was a 1983 graduate of Ft. Osage High School and received her bachelors in psychology from UMKC. Cathy was employed with Phoenix Metals for over 17 years. Cathy was a natural born athlete who was an active competitive softball player and enjoyed playing volleyball. Cathy’s pride and joy was Taylor playing softball and basketball. Survivors include daughter Taylor, parents Sharon and Roger Tuttle, Ron and Nancy Bruns, sister Lisa Bruns, brother Kevin Bruns, step sister Jennifer Tuttle, paternal grandmother, Viola Bruns, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family wishes to thank all 3 BMT units at KU Medical Center for their excellent care and support. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Kansas.
