George was born on Feb. 5, 1937, in Standish, MI to George Henry and Myrtle Genevieve (Tremble) Locke. He graduated from Standish High School in the class of 1955. He met Patricia Cuny at his father’s church, and they wed on February 16, 1957. They then moved to the Kansas City area where they were blessed with five children.
George worked for Lake City Ammunitions Plant for 33 years, and retired as a Ballistics Foreman. He and Patricia were members of Community of Christ Church of Harrisonville for over 60 years, where he served as a Teacher. He also was an Alderman for the city of East Lynne, and was proud to serve his community. He truly treasured his wife, Patricia - she was his great joy in life, and they were rarely seen apart. They made yearly trips back home to Michigan to see and reconnect with their families, and of course indulge in a slice (or two) of cherry pie! He was a shining example of what a father and grandfather should be, and he always told his family how proud he was of them.
George is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Patricia; children, Deborah Johnson (husband, Garry), Cindy O’Neil (husband, Richard), Barbara Amos (husband, Scott), George Locke (wife, Barbara), and Janet Zion (husband, Howard); 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Nancy Farley, Maxine McCord, and Grace Grenya; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Myrtle; brother, Donald; and beloved Cocker Spaniel, J.R.
