Bettye Sue Long

Bettye Sue Long, 71, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 18th at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24th at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Bettye was born December 17, 1934 in Independence, MO to Henry and Alberta (Leaverton) Brooks. She was a 4th generation member of the RLDS Church and most recently was active in the Special Ministries Service. Mrs. Long was an outspoken lady and was active in several civic activities. Bettye is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kristina and Frank Todd; grandsons Frank Todd Jr. and Timothy Todd; brother Albert Brooks and sisters Barbara Ann Litchford and Ruth Ann Troyer; adopted daughter Susan Slater of Anchorage, AK; special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband Russell Long Sr., and son Rusty in 2002.
