Edith T. Long

Edith Long, 66, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 11th at St. Mary�s Hospital in Blue Springs. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday in Girard Cemetery, Girard, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Edith was born February 18, 1939 in Girard, KS to Everett and Myrtle (Stevens) Sneed. Mrs. Long was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting in her spare time making items for family, friends and craft sales. Edith loved to bake and was known for her special hot rolls and cinnamon rolls. Mrs. Long is survived by her son Roger Long, son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Linda Long, son Rodney Long and daughter Rochelle Kolle; grandchildren Drew, Nicole, Jessica, Zach and Christopher Long, Katelyn Kolle and Alyssa Long; brother and sister-in-law Edward M. and Ruth Sneed; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1985 and 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
