Robert Jackson "Jack� Long, 85, of Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 21, 2005 at his home. Services will be 10 am Saturday, March 26th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, with interment in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Chapel. Jack was born February 23, 1920 in Mountain Grove, MO to Claude and Hazel (Johnson) Long. He served in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator during WW II. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the KCP&L Quarter Century Club. Jack worked for the Kansas City Power & Light Co. for 43 years, retiring March, 1982 as Data Communication Coordinator. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Marian Long; son, Phillip Long, and sister, Winnie Barnett. He is survived by his children, Daniel Long of Ridgecrest, CA, Diana Shepard-Hough of Independence, MO, John Long of Tonganoxie, KS, Robert "Tom� Long of Raytown, MO, Claudia Wilson of Martin, GA, Karen Baldree of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Harvey Long of Lebanon, MO; sister, Peggy Copple of Blue Springs, MO.
