Virginia Ann Daniel Wolf (née Vitt), 87, Greenwood, MO left this earth to dance with her Daddy in Heaven on December 14, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Virginia was born June 13, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Albert and Frances (Mandel) Vitt. After graduating as Valedictorian from St Mary’s High School in 1942, she attended St Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing receiving her nursing diploma in 1949 and graduating as Valedictorian. Following 44 years of service as an RN she retired in 1993. Virginia placed family above all, often welcoming anyone in need into her home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, raising chickens, clowning, quilting and was a master of arts and crafts.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert (Sonny) Vitt Jr. and James Vitt. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Rich) Berney, Laura Harrity, Nancy Wolf, Melissa Simms, and Jennifer (Mike) Joplin; sons, Richard (Sharron) Wolf, Joseph (Diane) Wolf, Gary Wolf, and Randal (Michelle) Wolf; siblings, Bernard (Bud) Vitt, Dorothy Burke, Helen Henderson and Mary Jo Murphy; and was known as Grandma Chickie to 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at 5:30 PM Friday, December 18th with visitation following 6-8PM and Mass at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 19th, all at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, MO. She will be laid to rest at Floral Hills East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Make A Wish Foundation or City Union Mission.
