Kay Francis Longwith (Bowles)

John Ellis Longwith, 81 and Kay Francis Longwith, 72 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at their residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Private inurnment will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made in their names to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Shriners Hospital. Kay was born June 12, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK to Thomas and Francis (Gawlik) Bowles. John was born May 20, 1936, in Prairie Grove, AR to James M. and Millie (Whinery) Longwith. Combined they had worked a total of 64 years at Hallmark Cards, John retired in 1994 and Kay in 1998. He was a foil press operator and Kay was a product coordinator. Kay enjoyed shopping and going to the casinos and John enjoyed garage and estate sales. They both enjoyed retirement and loved to travel. Kay attended St. Mark’s Catholic Church while John attended Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple. They are survived by; 3 children, Becky Kathlene Kellis and husband Neil of Blue Springs, MO, Esther Gayle Harder and husband Davin of Trimble, MO and Richard Bryant Longwith and wife Melayne of Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren, Nicole King, Shawn Kellis, Melissa Waisner, Mark Waisner, Truman Longwith, Reagan Longwith and Patrick Longwith, Jacob Croston and Jessica Perez; 7 great grandchildren, Ty Kellis, Jett Kellis, Bo King, Ella King, Sawyer Waisner, James Hunsucker and Olivia Longwith; Kay also leaves 5 siblings, Nancy Harnage, Evaughn Cox, Joseph Bowles, Connie Evans and Susie Hook. They were preceded in death by a son, Mark Timothy Longwith in 1985. Kay was also preceded by a sister, Marilyn Olson. John was also preceded by 3 brothers, JW, Lester and Jimmy Longwith.
