Bobbie Jo Loomis, a loving mother, grandma, sister and friend, passed away peacefully after a fierce battle with breast cancer on Saturday, January 8, 2022. She was 52. Bobbie was born to James and Dorothy Loomis on June 24, 1969 in Independence, Missouri.
Bobbie was a hard worker, some would say a “workaholic”” and spent over 20 years with the Kansas City Star. She loved people and would always go above and beyond to keep her customers happy. Bobbie was witty, had an infectious laugh and a magical sense of humor. She had a way of lighting up the room and drawing people to her. She was definitely the life of the party. Bobbie was so selfless and always made sure to make everyone around her feel loved. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She anxiously looked forward to watching her children and grandchildren tear through the Christmas presents and watch the looks on their faces. In the warmer months Bobbie would be found poolside soaking up the sun, listening to her favorite country music and spending time with her boys. She loved her family fiercely and will be missed beyond measure.
Bobbie is survived by her mother, Dorothy Loomis; sons, Anthony Braughton, Ryan Loomis (Crystal), Corey Braughton (Dottie Huff), Devon Braughton (Jessica Mansell), Bryce Braughton (Kayla); sisters, Sue Morton (Bob), Rita Berry (Don), Penny Barreto (Vince), Verdie Schnoor (Michael), Mary Rausch, Donna Klotz (Chad); 10 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Loomis; step-brother, Michael Bradberry; step-sister, Suanne (Bradberry) Green and nephew, Shane Barreto.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16th from 5-8pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Her funeral service will be on Monday, January 17th at 2pm with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer awareness foundation.
