Manuel “Manny” Arthur Lopez, 85 died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at North Kansas City Hospital following a serious medical condition. Visitation will be 9-10am Friday, September 22, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 10am at the chapel. Manny Lopez was born on December 28, 1931 in Sylmar California. His family included his significant other Susie Myers of 29 years, daughter Dawn DeHaven and her husband Wes of St. Louis, MO, son John Lopez and his wife Karen of Bates City, MO, and son Patrick Lopez and his wife Shelly of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren Max DeHaven, Sophie DeHaven, Desiree Sholtterer, Joey Sims, Ian Ballou, Micaiah Lopez, Isaac Lopez, Abi Lopez, Bear Lopez, Bella Lopez, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Rachael Ortiz and Rosemary Aqurrie, brother, Ruben Lopez, and sister-in-law Martha Lopez of Sylmar, CA. A strong and independent man, he made sure his children had a better life and more opportunities than he did. Manny worked his entire life till he retired at age 70. Manny loved to travel, was an avid photographer, and sports enthusiast. Manny loved all types of sports and especially watching his children and grandchildren compete in a variety of sports. He will be remembered as a wonderful, caring and devoted family man. He lived a good life and leaves a wonderful legacy. Our appreciation is extended to the 2nd Floor ICU at North Kansas City Hospital for their devoted care provided to Manny for the 3 weeks he was a patient.
