Orpha Jean Losey, 88 of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at her residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 N. Highway 291, Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Community Cancer Program Fund at The University of Kansas Hospital. Orpha was born December 25, 1923 in Kansas City, MO to Harry and Fay (Steger) Roark and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Westport High School in 1941. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed reading, country and gospel music, baseball, watching old movies and most of all spending time with her family. She enjoyed being the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Maywood Baptist Church. She was married to George Raymond Losey on July 11, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1993. Other survivors include; 2 daughters, Denise Johnson and her husband Fred of Kansas City, MO and Donna Lober and husband Greg of Liberty, MO; a sister, Ruth Roberts of Merriam, KS; a grandson, Jeff and Angie Noland of Maysville, MO, a granddaughter, Jennifer Martin of Kansas City, MO; 2 step granddaughters, Kari Lober of Independence, MO and Missy Basnett of Taipei, Taiwan; great grandchildren, Ashley Blair, Jeremy Noland, Jarett Noland, Hannah Noland, Elizabeth Martin and Mitchell Martin; great grandchildren, Meric Wyatt and Lilliana Noland.
