Dr. Dora Lee Love, 65, of Kansas City, MO peacefully passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 at her home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050. Dora was born August 16, 1942 in Kansas City, KS to Leonard Dewey and Willie Beatrice (Harvey) Love. She, along with her sisters, formed the Love Sisters singing group at a young age which led into her future musical talents. Dora was directing choirs by the time she was 16 years old and performed in various churches and other venues. Dr. Love received her undergraduate degree in Education from Emporia State Teaching College and then her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from K-State. Dora started her 42 years in Education in the Kansas City, KS school district before moving to the Kansas City, MO school district. She retired on her birthday after 42 years of service. Dora was passionate about At-Risk youth and developed the Nurturing Environment Model and wrote the book “Where the Rubber Meets the Road”. She was known for her generosity and giving to others and loved her family dearly. Dr. Love is survived by her children Shelly Polson, Trina Woodcox and husband Michael, Christopher Hert, Tammy Bullock and husband Tyler; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Clifford Love; sisters LaVerna Grider, Marian Love and Gina Njegovan. Dora was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
