Judith K. “Judy” Lovell, 75, of Independence, MO passed away March 4, 2020. Judy was born on January 2, 1945 in Kansas City Missouri to RJ and Kathleen (Hill) Shephard. On March 13, 1963, Judy married the love of her life, Ivan Lovell. He survives of the home. Together they enjoyed time spent at their cabin near Truman Lake, traveling to different Quilt shops around the Midwest. She was a member of several quilting clubs and spent many happy hours with friends quilting. “If Judy was sitting, she was sewing!”. She was gifted in sewing, knitting, and cooking. She shared her passions with her family and handed them down to her daughter. She had a love of all animals and was a volunteer at Lakeside Nature Center. Her specialty was caring for orphaned animals and helping in their rehabilitation. She was never without a dog in the house as a constant companion. Perhaps her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She cherished any time that she was able to spend with them. Survivors include: husband Ivan Lovell; son Aaron Lovell; daughter Nikki Rutland and her husband Marty; grandchildren Ivan Ryan Lovell, Hayden Lovell, Jada Rutland and Jack Rutland; extended family and friends. Per Judy’s request cremation has taken place. Judy was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
