Flora Carolyn Luther, 104, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 2, 2005 at Regency Care Center. Services will be 2 pm, Wed., Oct. 5, 2005 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; interment at Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Crossroads Hospice or the Fairmont United Methodist Church. Flora was born Dec. 14, 1900 in Wellington, MO. She worked at The Jones Store on the Square for 16 years and retired in 1967. She was a member of the church, VFW Post #1000 Army Mothers, and a life member of the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post #21. She also volunteered at the VA Hospital for over 25 years and served over 2,500 hours as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Flora was preceded in death by her husband Alexander B. Luther; her parents Henry H. and Anna G. (Gausmann) Linenbringer; son Oliver W. and his wife Arvilla; five brothers: Oliver, Leonard, Buck, Pete and Ellis; two sisters: Nellie Deatherage and Buelah Dickens. She is survived by her son Henry B. and wife Nellie E. Luther; sisters Leona (Hon) Clark and Orpha Leigh Birch; four grandchildren Carolyn Luther, Harry Luther and wife, Sue; Lois and husband Anthony Bokarae; O.W., Jr. (Skeeter) and wife Phyllis Luther; nine great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
