John James Maasen, Sr. 83 of Raytown, MO passed away Fri. Jun 22, 2007 at his home. Visitation will be from 9:30 �" 10:30 am, Thu. Jun 28, 2007 at St. Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Raytown, MO with the Mass beginning at 10:30 am. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. John was born one of eleven children to Bernard Maasen and Mary Bull Maasen in Tipton, MO. He served as Lieutenant J.G. Naval Aviator Bomber Pilot in WWII. He met his wife while working at Montgomery Wards Store in the warehouse. He held various positions while working for Sears Roebuck for 33 years and ended his career as Maintenance Agreement Manager. He was a member of many organizations of interest. He was a Head Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for 6 years, member of the Holy Name Society for St. James Church, Member of the Missouri Checkers Association and held State championship and was a member of the Homing Pigeon Club. John was preceded in death by his son, Ron Maasen. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Ruth Lindsey Maasen, his children; Regina Sproull, John James Maasen, Jr., Ruth Chace, Gary Maasen, Bob Maasen, Tom Maasen, and Dan Maasen. Fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four sisters, Anna Tobler, Theresa Bordman, Lorreta Payne and Ginger Thompson. John will be remembered for his strong faith in God, good sense of humor, his helping hands, song in his heart and love for family.
