Barbara Ann Machajewski, of Independence, MO, passed away far too soon on November 22, 2021. She was 67. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, November 29th with a service at 10am on Tuesday, November 30th, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown.
Barbara was born on January 19, 1954 to Eugene and Mary (Piane) O’Dwyer in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from St. Theresa’s Academy in 1972 and attended Penn Valley Community College. On July 15, 1978, she married her beloved husband, Jerry Machajewski. They settled in Independence and made a house a home. For a time, Barbara worked for the Independence School District as a Paraprofessional Educator. She was very involved in her church, Our Lady of the Presentation in Lee’s Summit, attending women’s group fellowships and other various ministry opportunities.
She was a talented cook and avid reader. Barbara was also lovingly immersed in her grandchildren’s lives and adored the time she spent with them. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jim O’Dwyer; and father-in-law, Ted Machajewski.
She leaves behind her husband, Jerry; her daughter, Katie (Justin) Andrews; her son, Ryan Machajewski; grandchildren, Emily and Chloe Andrews; mother-in-law, Sophia Machajewski; and sisters, Janet (Gaylin) Bergers, and Jean O’Dwyer.
