Allen “Dale” Maginness of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, he was 101 years of age. A visitation will take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with cremation to follow. The family will greet guests from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Dale was born on July 23, 1920, in Nettleton, Missouri. The son of Leonard and Tressa (Cox) Maginness.
After attending high school, Dale enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943 where he proudly served as a Ball Turret Gunner on a B-17, successfully completing 30 missions in WWII finally returning home in 1945. After returning home from the war Dale worked in the Freight Trucking Industry until he retired in 1980, as one of the longest serving union members. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and was also longtime member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Independence. Dale would spend his time with Betty at the lake boating or traveling with their RV group. He loved playing his guitar but most of all he loved his family. Dale will be deeply missed.
Survivors include 2 sons, Michael Maginness and wife Christine of Bella Vista, AR, and Stephen Maginness and wife Donna of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; very special extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 78 years, Betty Maginness; his parents, Leonard and Tressa Maginness; and his brothers and sisters.
