Celeste was born Oct. 21, 1912 in Kansas City, MO. She lived in Independence until 1962 and then moved to Richmond, IN. She most recently had been a resident of The Fountains. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. She was a founding member of the Junior League of Independence.
Celeste was preceded in death by her husbands William Gillmor in 1961 and George E. Mahley in 1985. She is survived by son William W. Gillmor and wife Carol, Blue Springs, MO; daughter Anne Ellis and husband Darwin, Martinsville, IN; son William C. Mahley and wife In Ok, Newark, DE; son George E. Mahley, Jr. and wife Maryanne, CA; grandchildren Carolyn Storey and husband David; Christine Foster and husband Shawn, all of Independence, MO; Glenn Ellis and wife Anne, Indianapolis, IN; Charles E. Mahley and wife Jennifer, Newark, DE; Charles D. Wieners and wife Heather, Lee’s Summit, MO; six other grandchildren in CA; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
