Art Main, 75, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away September 13, 2017 with his loving family by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 16, 2017 beginning at 3pm at Colonial Hills Community of Christ in Blue Springs. Art was born on January 31, 1942 in Independence, MO to Louis and Helen (Thomas) Main. After graduating from William Chrisman High School, Art went to college in Warrensburg where he met the love of his life, Karen Lear. They married and settled in Independence to raise their family. Art went to work for the City of Independence Water Department, retiring after over 30 years of service. Art’s passion for sports led him to the Royals where he was employed in several different capacities for over 20 years. For more than four decades, Art served the Community of Christ Church as a youth minister, Priest, Elder, and Pastor. Art spent much of his life volunteering with youth, as a coach for many youth sports and as a Boy Scout leader. Art enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife in the side car with her needlepoint in hand. Survivors include; his loving wife of 55 years, Karen (Lear) Main; son Nick Main; daughter Kelly Main; brother Herchel Main; 4 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his large extended family.
