Jane Mallett

Jane E. (Fairbanks) Mallett, 93, of Independence, MO, (formerly of Smithville, MO) passed away, Tuesday, November 19, 2013. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. on November 29th at E. 39th Street Community of Christ Congregation; 15006 East 39th Street, Independence MO 64055. Inurnment will be at Mound Grove Mausoleum.
Jane was born July 11, 1920 in Independence, MO to Glenn and Vera (Hartshorn) Fairbanks as one of three children. She graduated from William Chrisman High School and attended University of Kansas City. She married Robert Mallet in 1945. Together, they moved to the farm in Smithville, and raised two children. Jane was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, and especially her family. She was a Girl Scout Leader as well as a life long member of the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) Church.
Jane is survived by son, Bob Mallett and wife Ann of Smithville, MO; daughter, Ruth Chatburn and husband Gary of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren Mark Chatburn and wife Stephanie of Grain Valley, MO; John Chatburn and wife Dr. Andi Chatburn of Spokane, WA; and David Mallett and wife Jennifer of Souix City, IA; great grandchildren, Olivia and Madeline; niece Bonnie Dickson of North Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relative that will miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mallet in 1998; sisters, Dorothy Evans and Eleaner Stuart. The family encourages contributions to Outreach International in her memory.
