Edgar Allen Mallicoat, 88, Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 1, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Mound Grove Mausoleum. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Emma Mae Blair Scholarship Fund c/o Blue Ridge Community of Christ; 3371 Blue Ridge Blvd, Independence, MO 64052.
Edgar was born December 31, 1923 in Harrisonville, MO the eldest son of Wallace Edgar and Fern (Brown) Mallicoat. He joined the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in ’43 and retired from the Naval Reserves in 1976 as Chief Petty Officer and a Seabee. Edgar retired from Burns & McDonnell as an engineer technician. He was a member of the Independence Optimist Club, the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and was a Boy Scout Master Troop 185 and Eagle Scout. Edgar served as an elder in the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Congregation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of nearly 65 years, Marne in April 2012; brother, Wesley Eugene Mallicoat and his parents.
Survivors include his son; Norman Mallicoat and wife Hatsie of Olathe, KS; grandsons, Adam Mallicoat of Pocatello, ID, Marshall Mallicoat of Stamford, CT and Logan Mallicoat of Lawrence, KS; and brother, Harold Mallicoat of Kirkland, WA.
