June 14, 1936 — August 20, 2003

JoAnn Elizabeth Mancini, 67, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday August 19, 2003 at home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am Saturday August 23, 2003 at St. Mark�s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5-9:00 pm Friday August 22, 2003 at Speaks Suburban Chapel where the Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm. Burial in the Lee�s Summit Historical Cemetery. JoAnne was born June 14, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Emma (Armillio) Marotta. She worked at Safeway/Foodbarn for 18 years as a checker and florist. She also worked for IGA for 5 years before retiring in 1988. In retirement, JoAnn worked for 5 years part-time at Dillard�s selling Estee Lauder cosmetics. A job she dearly loved. JoAnn�s greatest joy in life was having family gatherings and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and sister around the dinner table celebrating life. JoAnn touched many people�s lives as she was blessed with a special charisma of genuine love and concern for others. This was evident by her generosity and time spent making each person feel important and appreciated. Those who were fortunate enough to have crossed JoAnn�s path during her journey through life will always remember her special love and graciousness. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Pat Marotta. She is survived by her children Michael Mancini, Elena Shultz and husband Mel, and Frank Mancini, grandchildren JoVonna Hugill, Elizabeth Hugill, Blake Mancini and Sara Shultz, sister Mary Ann Marotta, sisters-in-law Phyllis Marotta and Carmella (Mancini) Barresi, brother-in-law Angelo Mancini, aunts Theresa (Marotta) Ragusa and husband Carl, Clara (Armillio) Hitchcock and Luciana Armillio, special friends Sal Iannazzo, Mary Theresa Accurso, Florine Arnone, Florence Becchina, Gloria Cobb, Helen England, Betty LaCapra, JoAnn Leardi, Grace Sanders and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she dearly loved.
