James Buchanan Manning, 87 of Frisco, TX formerly of Independence passed away Mon, May 28, 2007 at the Centennial Medical Center in Frisco. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Mon. Jun 4, 2007 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Society. Mr. Manning was born on Oct 11, 1919 to Dr. Earl Manning and Nora (O’Sullivan) Manning in Kansas City, MO. He had been a Night Engineer for over 38 years, with the original Folgers’s Coffee Company in Kansas City and later for the Proctor & Gamble Company. Mr. Manning was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family and doing projects around the house. He had served in the Civil Conservation Corps and then upon coming of age he entered the US Army and later the Army Air Corp, serving during WWII and Korea for almost five years. He was a heavy machine gunner and served in the Aleutians Islands. Mr. Manning was a very proud member of the American Legion Conboy-Nichols Post 340 in Sugar Creek, MO. James was preceded in death by his wife, Irene P. Manning in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Nora J. Manning of Frisco, TX, a brother, Raymond Manning of Gladstone, MO. A nephew, Rev. Mark Manning and wife, Darlene of Lee’s Summit, MO, a niece, Mary Lynn Young and husband, Roger of Gladstone, MO, a sister-in-law, Brenda Manning of Lee’s Summit, MO. Special recognition for his ‘daughter in spirit’, Connie Francis of Independence, MO. and his loving home care helpers Hellen, Ester and Irene.. Also numerous other nieces and nephews
