Elizabeth Maples, 72, of Independence, MO passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Huntsville, AL. A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church 15200 E. 39th St S, Independence, MO, 64055. Elizabeth was born on October 7, 1943 in Fairplay, MO to Gayles and Catherine (Brown) Mustain. After graduating high school she worked a clerical position for Sears. On August 30, 1964 she married Fred Maples, the love of her life. Together they had two sons and loved to travel. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, riding ATV’s and fishing. Most of all she enjoyed time with her grandchildren. Elizabeth was very active with her church, Sycamore Hills Baptist. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and still worked in the nursery. Her survivors include her husband Fred; sons Terry Maples and wife Heather of Lowry City, MO, Bruce Maples and wife Brenda of Buckner, MO; brother Louis Mustain and wife Darlene of Florida; sister Geraldine Fink and husband Richard of Boliver, MO; and 5 grandchildren Cody, Chyann, Kendall, Keegan, and Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sycamore Hills Baptist Church.
