Frederick Maples, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at his home in Independence.
Frederick Ross Maples was born on November 20, 1937, to Fred and Lola (Ross) Maples in Kansas City, MO. Fred grew up in Versailles, MO, and graduated from Versailles High School in 1956. Following graduation Fred served his country in two different branches of the military. He first enlisted in the US Army and then continued to serve his country in the US Air Force. Fred began his working career in Kansas City for Hallmark which he was loyal to for 39 years. On August 30, 1964, Fred married the love of his life Elizabeth Ruth Mustain. Together they had two sons and loved to travel.
Fred will be remembered for his love of family and friends; woodworking, fishing, faithfully volunteering at his church for the Men’s and Youth Groups as a cook, his love for cooking breakfast, smoking brisket and four-wheeling.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his two sons, Terry Maples and wife Heather of Lowry City, MO, Bruce Maples and wife Brenda of Buckner, MO; five grandchildren, Cody, Chyann, Kendall, Keegan, and Spencer; one great grandchild, Kylan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth on June 7, 2017, his parents and sister, Melva Rapp.
A visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Mo, 64055, 816-373-3600. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church, 15200 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, 64055, 816-373-1646.
