Francis Russell (Russ) Marble was born July 30, 1934 to Herbert T Marble and Maude A Marble (Howard) in Independence Missouri. He passed peacefully from this life on March 24, 2020 at home. Russ was a proud career veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a baker and cook aboard several ships beginning with the USS Point Cruz, USS Winston, USS Segundo and USS Stonewall Jackson where he received numerous excellent performance evaluations. He finished his Navy career as an instructor teaching recruits as commissarymen. He retired from active and inactive service after 30 years in June of 1981.
Upon retirement, Russ and family moved home to Independence Missouri. He worked as a truck driver, bakery supervisor for Venture Stores, owned two Mister Donut franchises, and finally owned his own home repair and remodeling business.
Russ met and married Carlene McGuire of Independence over 66 years ago at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Independence. They raised four children during their travels from San Diego, Great Lakes Illinois, Long Beach California, Vallejo California and Honolulu Hawaii.
He was a member of St Ann’s Catholic Church in Independence from childhood. He was a proud 4th degree Knight of Columbus in FR Bernard E Branson Council #3430.
Russ was an avid golfer and was known to play 9-18 holes every day. He loved all sports as a fan, especially the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
Russ was predeceased by his parents, sisters Elizabeth Langford, Rosemary Starks, brothers Charles Marble and Herbert Marble and son Robert Marble. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Carlene Marble of the home. His sisters Sue Mulkey Silverton Oregon, Pat Owens Belton Missouri and brother Mike Marble Grand Prairie Texas. Sons Russell W Marble Independence, Tim Marble Independence, and daughter Julie Briggs Independence. 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. And many loving nieces, nephews, and friends
