Marcia Ann Nagel

May 4, 1940 — March 27, 2025

Marcia Ann Nagel, a devoted nurse and cherished friend, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 84. Marcia was born on May 4, 1940, in Aurora, Colorado to Myron and Margaret (Lewis) Johnson.

Growing up in Independence, Missouri, Marcia graduated from William Chrisman High School before pursuing her passion for caring for others at the Independence Sanitarium School of Nursing. In 1961, she officially became a nurse, dedicating over fifty years of her life the profession. Marcia primarily worked in recovery rooms, serving with unwavering commitment at Independence Sanitarium Hospital, Independence Regional Hospital, and Centerpoint Medical Center. It was there that she touched countless lives, offering comfort and compassion to her patients and their families during their times of need.

Marcia's personality was a beautiful blend of generosity, kindness, and a delightful sense of humor. Marcia's gullibility became a favorite source of laughter among her friends and family, lovingly endearing her to those who knew her best. Her generous heart was evident in all her actions, whether through her active participation in church activities or being the beloved "go-to" mom at her children’s camps.

Outside of her professional life, Marcia enjoyed a variety of interests. She had a passion for traveling and immersing herself in the beauty of the world. She also found solace in listening to music and working in her flower garden. As an avid sports enthusiast, she particularly reveled in the excitement of March Madness, eagerly looking forward to every tournament.

Marcia's legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of her friends and family. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable journey, we remember a woman whose impact extended far beyond her nursing career. A gentle reminder of the impact one person can have on the lives of so many.

Marcia is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Douglas Edwards; daughters, Suzanne Strein and Sarah Thompson (Matthew); son, Jerry Nagel (Stephanie); sister, Linda Kubach (Kent); grandchildren, Jane, Samuel and Harold Thompson, Olive Strein, Molly Nagel, Zachary Siress and Bethany Siress.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Margaret Johnson; and daughter, Tammy Nagel.
