Margaret Lou Ellen Eads, affectionately known as Margie, was born on May 28, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed from this world on February 16, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
Margie dedicated many years of her life to her craft as a seamstress before transitioning into an enduring career as a waitress, during which she worked tirelessly for over 30 years. Known for her loving yet stern demeanor, Margie's vibrant personality shone through in every interaction—her philosophy was simple, often echoing the phrase, "my way or the highway." This vivacity made her a striking presence to those lucky enough to know her.
Her education journey began with her graduation from Southeast High School in 1948, allowing her to pursue her artistic inclinations with a year at the Kansas City Art Institute before embracing the beautiful chaos of marriage and motherhood. Margie married her husband William "Bill" in 1950. Margie was deeply proud of her family, holding her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren close to her heart, relishing in their accomplishments and the joy they brought into her life.
A passionate creator, Margie found joy in various crafts including sewing, crocheting, cross stitching, and quilting. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she proudly belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a devoted member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Her love for these organizations reflected her commitment to community and her rich heritage.
Margie is survived by her children, Margaret "Margie Lou" (Javier) Rivera, William "Bill" (Sue) Eads, Elizabeth (Rick) Westerfield; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Wanda) Hedenberg, David (Chris) Hedenberg; extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Eads; grandchild John David "Jack" Eads; great granddaughter Tyler Rose Rivera; parents, Raymond Earl and Margaret Ellen Hedenberg; brother, Raymond Earl Hedenberg, Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Hedenberg.
Margie's tenacity and spirited nature were beautifully complemented by a deeply loving heart. Loved ones are invited to celebrate Margie's life at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM on February 24, 2025. Margie will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery, with burial occurring at 12:00 PM.
