Marie Rose Easterwood, born Marie Battaglia on August 27, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, bid farewell to this world on July 18, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was a beloved soul who left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege to know her.
Educated at Holy Rosary School, Marie embarked on a journey to expand her skills and knowledge. Shortly after graduation, she pursued her passion for beauty by obtaining her beautician certification. This pursuit showcased her versatility and thirst for learning. Marie's professional journey centered around the meticulous art of bookkeeping. Her dedication and precision shone through as she dedicated her career to Puritan Bennett, where she served as a steadfast bookkeeper for many years. Her commitment to excellence and attention to detail were evident in all aspects of her work. Marie's Italian heritage infused a profound love for cooking and baking within her being. Her kitchen was a place of magic where each dish was crafted with love and expertise, entirely from scratch. She not only delighted in preparing meals but also took joy in passing down this culinary wisdom to her children and grandchildren. A nurturer at heart, Marie had a warmth that enveloped everyone she encountered. Her open arms welcomed all, and she held her family dearer than any treasure. Her dedication to her faith was unwavering, attending mass faithfully and finding solace in the embrace of her beliefs.
Marie's passing was preceded by her parents; Salvatore and Josephine Battaglia, her beloved husband; William Easterwood, her children; Joetta Holmes and David Easterwood, her grandchildren; Christopher Short, Tina Short, and Sasha Easterwood, and her brother; Frank Battaglia. Her legacy lives on through her children; Michael Easterwood (Pam) and Bryan Easterwood (Melinda), her grandchildren; Joel Easterwood (Maddison), Sara Ratigan (Dan), Justin Easterwood (Terra), Kerri Easterwood, Cindi Cose (Steve) and Logan Holmes, and great-grandchildren; Gianna Easterwood, Amelia "Millie" Ratigan, William Short, Mila Easterwood, Chelsea Cose (Adrian), Spencer Cose, and Elliot Easterwood. Marie is also survived by her brother, Salvatore (Duke) Battaglia.
