Milton “Dale” Markley of Blue Springs, Missouri, (81), the son of Lester J. and Ethel Markley, was born in Dover, Missouri on April 25, 1940 and passed away at North Kansas City Hospital on June 10, 2021.
Dale grew up in Independence, Missouri and was active in school and church events. He attended William Chrisman High School class of 1959. While in high school he learned his love for cars and attended trade school to learn mechanics. He then learned his love for auto body and restoration and spent the rest of his life repairing and restoring cars.
Dale loved classic cars both working on them and attending car shows. He spent a significant amount of his life in the Show Me Rods where he served multiple offices including club President. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Dale’s biggest love was for his family and his church. He had a special love for all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a grandpa was the highlight of his life. He attended church at Full Gospel Assembly where he was a Deacon and a board member for many years.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James, and his son, Jeffery, and his wife of 11 years, Marilyn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 7 years Rose Markley, his two sons and their wives, Josh and Kim Markley and Daniel and Mirella Savage, and three daughters and their husbands, Kim Iqbal, Una and James Ketchum, and Beth and Daniel Best, two stepsons, Brian Lackey and his wife Tobi and Bill Lackey, 23 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday June 14 at Carson Speaks funeral home in Independence, Missouri with visitation from 9 am – 11 am with services immediately following. Internment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri with graveside services immediately following the funeral.
