Shannon Marquez

Shannon Colleen Marquez, 44, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014.

Shannon was born January 29, 1970 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Steve M. and Donna Cheryl (Griggs) Jones. She attended Shawnee Mission West High School and was currently attending Penn State University. Shannon was employed as a financial analyst with Quintiles. She was a member of MENSA. She was a strong advocate for special needs children and justice for children. Shannon was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed music. Her passion was in photography, especially capturing lighthouses.

Shannon was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Griggs.

Survivors include her sons, Antonio and Julian Marquez, and Ashton Griggs; mother, Cheryl Jones; brothers, Richard and Robert Jones; sister, Elizabeth Jones; maternal grandmother, Billie Rice and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Terrace Park Mausoleum.
