Martha J. Ginnings, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 6, 2024, at the age of 71 at her home in Independence, Missouri. Born on May 9, 1952, in Independence, Martha lived a life filled with passion, laughter, and an indomitable spirit.
Martha both attended and graduated from William Chrisman High School. Later in life, she made her way to her career as a tax assistant working for the IRS. Beyond her career and education, Martha had a vibrant personality that left an everlasting impression on everyone she encountered. She had a mischievous sense of humor that could light up any room. Martha was notorious for her quick wit and ability to bring laughter into the lives of those around her. She loved nothing more than seeing smiles on people's faces and was always ready with a well-timed joke or prank. Martha possessed a fierce love for life itself. She lived each day to the fullest, embracing every opportunity that came her way. With boundless energy and enthusiasm, she sought adventure in every aspect of her existence. Whether it was baking delicious treats in the kitchen or tending to her beautiful flowers in the outdoors, Martha found joy in every moment. Martha's also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake of the Ozarks. The tranquility of being surrounded by nature gave her solace and peace. Traveling was another cherished pastime for Martha; she relished any chance to embark on new adventures and explore different corners of the world. Above all, Martha held her family in the highest regard. She was a devoted and loving mother, always going the extra mile to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of her loved ones. Her daughter, Tiffany, held a special place in her heart, and Martha's nurturing nature encompassed not only her immediate family but also extended to include her cherished granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
Martha's passing was preceded by her parents; William "Bill" and Beulah Cooley (Baslee), and her siblings; Robert "Bob" Cooley, Judith Schmickle, and Margaret Cooley. Her legacy lives on through her daughter; Tiffany Crismon (Si Upton), her granddaughter; Casey Price (Danial), her great granddaughter; Oriya Lewis, her great grandson; Roman Price, her sister in-law; Sherl Hockaday (Jeff), her brother; James "Jim" Cooley, one niece, four nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on February 13, 2024, at Carson-Speaks Chapel situated at 1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. The immediate family will lay Martha to rest at Mount Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Martha's honor to the American Cancer Society.
