Anna “Madge” Martin. 94, of Independence, MO passed away June 9, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Madge was born on July 30, 1923 in Lebanon, MO the youngest of 5 children born to Andrew and Anna Belle (Roberts) Garr. Madge was raised on a farm and learned from a young age how to milk cows, tend to the chickens, grow a large garden and canning for the winter. She learned to be a strong woman that knew how to get things done! It didn’t matter what the chore, she was up to the task. She took many family members into her home to care for them in their time of need. Madge was the person that everyone could count on. Those same qualities carried over in the raising of her own family. She was a very hands on Mom. Cooking, canning, and making the children’s clothes. She was always there for her children and grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed working in the yard, collecting Beanie Babies and salt and pepper shakers. Madge also enjoyed John Wayne movies. Madge is preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Roy Hoskins, 2nd husband Dillard Martin, sons Ronnie and Gary Hoskins, brothers Russell and Ralph Garr, sisters Polly Mills and Irene Garr. Survivors include; daughter Barbara Lakenbrink; daughter Carolyn Moore; son Larry Hoskins and his wife Sherry; daughter in law Kathy Hoskins; 5 step children; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; special friends Cliff Braden, Dana Allwine, 4 legged friend Butch; all her friends at Carmel Hills that she considered her family, and a large extended family.
