Charlene L. Martin, 95, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Hubble Hill, Tonganoxie, KS, on Friday, October 31st.
Charlene was born July 17th 1919 in Tonganoxie, KS as one of two children to Leo and Ruby Irene (Grems) Kramer. She is a long time member of Hillside Christian of North Kansas City as well as a current member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence. She served on the Board of Directors for IMTEC, a consulting firm owned and operated by her daughter and son-in-law. She is remembered for her kindness, and being a sweet and good friend and mother. She is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include daughter, Cathy Holmes and husband Mike of Independence; step grandchildren, Troy, Todd, and Anthony Holmes as well as Bridgette Spinski and Michelle Kia; nieces, Sally Naylor (Joe) and Nancy Dudek (Steve); and four furry “grand puppies.” She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Rev. Allen Martin; sister, Jean Watson; and “Puppy Dog Holmes” whom she cared for. The family encourages contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
