Doris June Martin

Doris June Martin, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in Independence.
Doris was born June 3, 1928 in Odessa, Missouri to Grover and Minnie Harp. She grew up in Southeast Kansas City and, later, Grandview, Missouri. Doris married her childhood sweetheart, Heman C. Martin in 1949. She worked for Bendix and several insurance companies as an insurance underwriter, retiring from Zurich American in 1990.
Doris assisted Heman as pastor of the Grandview R.L.D.S. church, directed and cooked for many church camps and retreats and served on various church commissions. Her hobbies included cooking, traveling, crocheting, and genealogy.
Doris�s husband, parents, and sister, Gwendolyn Binns, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Terry M. and Terry A. Pickering, Larry and Diane Martin, and Gary and Devona Martin; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and family: Mark and Milly Binns, Marilyn and Jon Standing, and Kathy and Richard Delehant.
Visitation will be 6�8pm Monday, February 5, with funeral services 10am Tuesday, February 6, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, 816-373-3600. Graveside service will be at Mound Grove directly after funeral.
