Eugene H. Martin, Jr.

December 11, 1924 — April 30, 2006

Eugene H. Martin, Jr., 81, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be Thursday, May 4, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel; Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm Wednesday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Wayside Waifs, P.O. Box 9791, Kansas City, MO, 64134. Mr. Martin was born December 11, 1924, in Brunswick, MO, to Eugene H. Martin, Sr., and Dulanty (Frances) Martin. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He attended Rockhurst, then graduated from the University of Kansas. He worked for many years as an Account Controller, most recently for the Yellow Cab Co. He loved KU sports and had a special place in his heart for animals. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Dozier) Martin; his dog Misty; and his cat Buddy. He is survived by a step-son, John David Harris, Independence, MO, and step-daughter, Julie Anderson, Columbus, KS; his ex-step-daughter-in-law and good friend, Judy Harris, Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren, Barbara Hills, Boni Anderson, Richard Anderson, John David Harris, II, Kelly Norton, Mike Walls, and Michele Bay; 7 great-grandchildren; his cousin, Carolyn Hedrick, of New Mexico; and many other loving relatives and friends.
