Mathew Jason Martin July 12, 1972-June 5, 2020
Born to Michael and Marci Martin, in Independence, MO. The day he was born, he gained his 15 minutes of fame in all the KC metro newspapers. He was the third grandson (preceded by brother Michael and cousin Mark) of James and Carol Hamilton, of Independence, to be born on July 12, in 3 consecutive years.
Mathew graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1990. He worked as an armed security guard for 10 years, then became an over the road truck driver. He had recently been medically retired, and become the chief play date for his grandchildren, who lit his world.
Mathew loved to travel and was an avid motorcyclist for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his dad, standing under the hood of one of their 1963 Ford Galaxies and tinkering to make it go faster.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim Hamilton and Carol (Heater) Hamilton, Marion and Kathy Martin, and his father, Michael.
He is survived by his mother, Marci; brother, Michael (Amberly) Martin, St Louis, Mo.; daughters, Dixie (Michael) Woodward and Skyler Martin; his grandchildren, Zoey Woodward and Ian Woodward; and his Aunt Cyndi, who loved him as her own, all of Independence, Mo.
