Shirley Luke Martin, 92, Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly Feb. 22, 2016. Services will be 7 pm, Friday, Feb. 26 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will begin at 6 pm before the service at the chapel. The family requests contributions to the American Heart Association, 6800 93rd St, Overland Park, KS 66212. Shirley was born March 15, 1923 in Maryville, MO and graduated from high school there. She worked at Sears in the 1970’s. She enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles and, in her younger days, singing and dancing. Most of all, her whole life was geared around her family. She was a Catholic. Shirley was preceded in death by husbands Linus Luke and James D. Martin, Sr. and sister Marjorie King. She is survived by son Jim Luke and wife Roberta, Overland Park, KS; daughters Linda Luse and husband Don, Billings, MT; Susan Luke, Tucson, AZ; step-daughter Sheryl Arnold and husband Stephen, Independence, MO; step-son James D. Martin, Jr. and wife Barbara, Blue Springs, MO; step-daughter Karen D. Booker and husband Wesley, Kearney, MO; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
