Mary Margaret Fincham, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on November 26, 1946, in Independence, Missouri, a place that echoed the love and passion she carried throughout her remarkable life.
Educated at William Chrisman High School, Mary went on to graduate Cum Laude from Graceland College, earning her first music education degree. She later pursued further education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she earned her legal assistant certificate, demonstrating her pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
Mary's journey was one filled with dedication and artistry. She began her professional career working as a secretary for the music office at the RLDS auditorium, where her love for music was showcased alongside her administrative skills. Her compassionate nature found a home in the healthcare field, serving as an administrative assistant for home health and hospice at Independence Regional Health Center. However, her time as a special education teacher at Blue Springs School District that truly showcased her commitment to nurturing and educating young minds. Mary had an extraordinary gift for teaching music, sharing her talents in both public and private settings, and instilled a love for the piano and organ in countless students of all ages. Her musical journey also included playing the violin with the Kansas City Symphony, a testament to her dedication to her craft. Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. In her free time, she immersed herself in painting, reading, and fishing. The water held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the moments spent at the lake with her friends and family.
Mary's passing was preceded by her parents; Vernon and Margrette (Brown) Blackburn. Her legacy lives on through her children; Heather Krikorian (Paul) and Sean Fincham, her grandchildren; Tyler Riggs (Kortney) and Aidyn Krikorian, her sister; Cathryn Sylvester, and her nieces; Amy Moyer, Lori Sylvester, and Jennifer Stack (Eli).
Mary's life will be celebrated during a memorial visitation on August 24, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Animal's Best Friends.
