Mary "Lois" Turner

Mary ``Lois” Turner, 92 of Lenexa, KS passed away Tuesday December 12, 2023 with her family by her side.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 with burial to follow in Mound Grove Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel.   Lois was born June 4, 1931 in Buckner, MO to Roy Glen and Jennie Elizabeth (Bailey) Miles and later was joined by Step-dad Verlon (Pete) Stephens.  Lois was a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman in 1949.  She later obtained an associates degree from Longview Community College at the age of 60.  She had worked as a legal secretary for Bendix Corporation for over 20 years, GEHA and retired from UAW Legal Services in 1994. After retirement she enjoyed Young Matrons, Red Hatters, and volunteering on election days at the polls. She also spent a lot of time helping out with her grandsons and attending their events.

She was married 51 years to Shirly Turner who passed away in 2006. She is survived by daughters, Tami Moran and husband Sean, and Terri Turner all of Lenexa, KS; Grandsons, Mark and Matthew Moran, sister-in-love, Bobbie Turner, nieces Sherry Turner and Lori Yager (Joe). Grand niece and nephew, Lindsay Andersen (Cole) and Lucas Schubert (Jeffrey) and Great grand niece and nephew Presley and Paxton Andersen. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 half-brothers, Jerry and Tommy Miles and her beloved Bichon, Ami.
