Mary Janet MacLeod, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on September 15, 2024, at the age of 71.
Mary was born on January 29, 1953, in Algona, Iowa to Raymond and Dorothy Harig. Mary pursued her education with vigor and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree, setting the foundation for a dynamic and successful career. Throughout her life, she engaged in various jobs, but her most notable role was as a regional sales representative for a sewing company. With her expertise and charisma, she traveled extensively across the Midwest, successfully capturing sales and building lasting relationships within the industry. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary was a vibrant soul who had a profound love for travel. She shared countless adventures with her beloved husband, Jim, exploring the world together on cruise ships and creating lasting memories. Their favorite escape was their lake house on Pomme de Terre, a unique sanctuary that Jim lovingly built to align with Mary's tastes. Mary's warm spirit extended to her hobbies, where she found joy in baking, sewing, and collecting antiques. Her passion for crafting exquisite baked goods was only rivaled by her enthusiasm for supporting her favorite sports team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mary's passing is preceded by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy (Shultz) Harig; and her siblings, Julius Harig and Merle Ann Norcross. Her legacy lives on through her best friend and husband of 35 incredible years, James "Jim" MacLeod; her step-son, Steven MacLeod; her brother-in-law, Gary Norcross; and her nieces and nephews, Jody Norcross, David Norcross, Kristin Norcross and Nolan Harig.
