Mary Joanna Pritchett, affectionately known as Joanna, was born on March 25, 1937, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She peacefully departed this world on August 14, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was a beloved, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Joanna’s love for the Lord was very strong. She drew from His strength to live each day. He was her sustainer and refuge. She dedicated the majority of her life to being a homemaker, finding joy in nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home for her loved ones. Her caring nature extended beyond her immediate family as she took on childcare responsibilities for two generations of children. Her creative spirit shone brightly through her various hobbies and interests. Joanna's love for all things pink was evident in her meticulously tended flower garden, where she poured her heart into cultivating beautiful flowers. Her talent for ceramics and hand-painting allowed her artistic expression to flourish. As a skilled seamstress, she lovingly crafted clothing for her daughters and grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and care in every stitch. Joanna's creativity knew no bounds as she delighted in decorating and arranging centerpieces for church events, showcasing her flair for design. She enjoyed family travels, with Branson holding a special place in her heart. Joanna and husband Lloyd, loved country music. What better place to go than a dream trip to the Grand Ole Opry. Despite her quiet nature, Joanna's actions spoke volumes, and her family held a special place in her heart. She was their unwavering prayer warrior, always offering support, love, and encouragement.
Joanna's passing was preceded by her parents; Otis and Hazel Leonard, her husband Lloyd Pritchett, and her brother Gary Leonard. Her legacy lives on through her children; Merlin Pritchett (Dee Dee), Marilynn Jungmann (Paul), Lisa Dolan (Jim), and Hazel "Sissy" Larson (Joe).Her grandchildren; Heather Larson, Jason Pritchett (Desta), Allison Rhodes (Mark), Cody Pritchett (Jolita), Jacob Dolan (Breanna), Bree Bledsoe (Michael), Aaron Larson (Maryssa), and Gabe Larson (Hannah), 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and two long time best friends, Sondra Monasmith and Mabel Noland.
Services to honor and celebrate Joanna's life will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri, on August 19, 2024. A Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. The Graveside Service will be held at Newton Cemetery in Nevada, Missouri, starting at 1:00 PM.
