Betty J. Mason (Watson), of Independence, MO, a friendly and outgoing woman who loved all things of Hallmark’s “Maxine” and moo-cow memorabilia, passed away on March 9, 2022. She was 97 years old. Betty was born on January 9, 1925, in Independence, Missouri. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1943. On Valentine’s Day of 1947, she married the love of her life, Richard W. Mason, and to this union, a daughter, Deborah “Debbie” was born. Together, Betty and Richard were involved in the Mid America Mustang Club for many years. They explored lots of adventures together, especially enjoying square dancing in their younger days. Betty lived in Independence, MO for the entirety of her life. For almost 40 dedicated years, Betty worked as a title & escrow closer in real estate, but her true passion was taking care of her grandsons, Matthew and Joseph. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had lots of friends. Betty will always be remembered as loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and wife, who loved her family fiercely and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Taibi, 65; and grandsons, Matthew B. Wright and Joseph J. Taibi III. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 66 years, Richard W. Mason. A graveside service to honor Betty will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at 2:00 p.m., at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, MO.
