Lynda Mae (Wright) Mason was born in Viola, Arkansas April 25th, 1938 to Luther and Margaret Wright. Her mother passed away when she was 8 years old and her father passed away on Christmas day in the rocking chair after chopping wood when she was 11. As an orphan, much of her life was shaped as she moved from home to home. She moved to Kansas City after graduating valedictorian of her class, married and then had her first child Dale in 1957. Soon to follow was Debbie, Doug, Deanna, Denise and Darin completed the 6 D's in 1966. Never remarrying, she devoted her life to her children making sure we all would work hard to get an education, to never give up and to give. No matter how little she had, she always gave to others. It was not uncommon for her to bring another mouth home to feed or give somebody a place to stay until they could get back on their feet. She instilled in us the importance of values, morals and unconditional love.
She passed the morning of September 1, 2018 at the NKC Hospice Facility where she had been the last 10 days. She was able to see so many during this period as the many grandchildren, great-grand children, nephews, nieces, and so many friends were able to get that last visit in. Lynda is survived by many that loved her. Her 6 children and their spouses, 13 grandkids and 20 great grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Glenda Rickman, her brother, Lenard Wright, and her great-grandson, Grady Jones.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 7th from 9-11:00am with a funeral service following at 11:00am both at Central Assembly of God, 1009 W 23rd St., Independence, MO 64055. Interment will take place at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
