After graduating from Lebanon High School in 1950 Carolyn continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. She earned her master’s degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and began her teaching career in the Kansas City Public School system. During that time she met the love of her life, Donald. They were married on June 25, 1954 and spent the next 67 years creating memories together. Carolyn enjoyed visiting new places and they spent lots of time traveling in their motor home. She also took pride in dedicating her time to the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Association of University Women. Carolyn was an avid reader and never missed an opportunity to learn and teach. She enjoyed playing the piano with Donald playing the banjo, and accompanying her sister Glenda for performances at SantaCaliGon Days. She spent countless hours in her genealogy research, was a loyal neighbor and enjoyed going to sporting events. Regardless of her surroundings, Carolyn always had a book in hand. She was an extremely sophisticated, well respected, gracious woman and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
