Robert Lee Massey, 73, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 26, 2012. Services will be 10 am, Wed. Oct. 31 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington, MO. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Robert was born May 29, 1939 in Aurora, MO and attended Northeast High School in Kansas City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Army Reserves after his discharge from active duty. He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly. He had began his work career as a welder at the Allis-Chalmers plant in Independence and retired from Graham Migletz Enterprises, a civil engineering firm after a thirteen-year career as a draftsman. He also enjoyed woodworking and photography.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Chester L. and Bessie (Johnson) Massey and sister Mary Ruth Massey. He is survived by his wife Treva (Garrett) Massey; sons Kyle Massey and wife Tracee; Kurt Massey; daughter Karissa Alumbaugh and husband Rob; brother William Massey and wife Liz; grandsons Jonathan & Christopher Massey; Evan & Lucas Alumbaugh and nephews Mike & Mark Massey.
