Wellington T. “Bill” Maupin, 85 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the mission offering at Coventry Estates Baptist Church, 17133 E. 39th St. South, Independence, MO 64055. Bill was born May 20, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Wellington T. and Ruth Irene (Rader) Maupin and has been a lifelong Independence resident graduating from William Chrisman High School. He worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years until he retired in 1989. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1949-57. He enjoyed yard work, walking and spending time with family. He was a member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church. Survivors include: his loving wife, Zada of the home; 2 sons, Wellington T. Maupin and David M. Maupin both of Independence, MO; 3 step sons, Dale Grindstaff and wife Dawn and Rick Grindstaff and wife Teresa all of Independence, MO and Kerry Grindstaff and wife Christy of High Point, NC; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
